SUMMARY:The Run for Chapter Bragging Rights
DESCRIPTION:All PCMA Chapters are coming together for the month leading up to EduCon to celebrate all that PCMA is doing for our communities with the Chapter Run/Walk Challenge. All proceeds from this event will be benefiting the PCMA Foundation.\nREGISTER HERE (be sure to select Northern California as your chapter)\nMOTIVATION\nThe COVID-19 pandemic has had an excruciating impact on the business events industry. According to one study\, 22 million people in the event industry in the U.S. alone had temporarily or permanently lost their job because of the pandemic. Although many events were able to pivot to a virtual setting\, the natural human needs for face-to-face interaction shows the importance and impact that the business events industry can have. And as the vaccines are increasingly being rolled out\, we can start to see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Although we still have a way to go before we are back to “normal\,” we can start thinking about how to show once again how much the business events industry means to our communities whether it’s a hotel\, a destination\, a group of customers\, or in this case PCMA. \nThe motivations for “The Run for Chapter Bragging Rights” are many folds. They include to celebrate all that PCMA is doing for our communities\, to foster engagement with members\, to promote collaboration across chapters\, to generate fun competition/rivalry\, and to support our industry friends who were impacted by the pandemic. \nOBJECTIVE\nThe objective for “The Run for Chapter Bragging Rights” is for each chapter to run/walk as many miles as it can within a given period of time\, and to raise as much money as possible along the way. \nDETAILS\nTiming/Schedule: This run will take place within a one-month period\, June 7th – July 7th. Each chapter must run/walk as many miles as possible during this period. \nFormat: This activity can be done individually by each participant or done in small groups. \nParticipants: Anyone can participate. If someone belongs to more than one chapter\, he/she must select one chapter in which to participate. There is no limit to how many participants each chapter can have. However\, each participant must run/walk at least 5 miles in order for those miles to be counted towards the chapter’s total. \nFor more information contact northerncalifornia@pcma.org
